Mary "Charlie" Ward
SEPTEMBER 29, 1943 – AUGUST 5, 2021
Mary “Charlie” Ward, age 77, passed away August 5, 2021. Charlie was born September 29, 1943 in Temple, Texas. Her family later moved to Austin, Texas where she graduated from Johnston High School. She married Glenn Ward on April 21, 1961 in Austin. She retired from the Texas Board of Pardons and Parole with over 20+ years of dedicated employment. Charlie loved bowling, watching football (especially the Dallas Cowboys and the Texas Longhorns) and watching the Texas Rangers. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Charlie was preceded in death by her husband, Willis Glenn Ward; mother, Inez Pemberton; father, Charles D. Champagne, Sr. and brother, Charles D. Champagne, Jr. Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters, Cheryl Ward East and husband David of Florida and Carole Ward of Austin; grandchildren, Jaci Mikels and husband Daniel, Ashley East & Blair East of Florida and Joel Price and wife Rhonda and Jacob Ward-Ponce of Austin; great grandchildren, Taylor and Tori Mikels, Vincent Cunzo, and Zoe, Logan, Isaac, Cody and Kayla Price.
Graveside services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 16, 2021 at Cook Walden Capital Park Cemetery.
