FRANK HEMPHILL
Jimmy Franklin Hemphill,78, (July 6,1943-July 19,2021) was born in Bastrop County, Texas.
On June 14, 1963, Frank and Carolyn Dittmar were married at the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church by the Rev. A. D. Eberhart who baptized Frank in 1982. Frank and Carolyn recently celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary.
Frank enjoyed a "storied" 27-year career with the Austin Police Department, ranging from starting-patrolman to undercover assignments, retiring as a Senior-Sgt. in 1993. Frank received numerous meritorious community service awards throughout his police career. Frank also served 6-years in the Texas Army National Guard (MP), receiving Soldier-of-the-Year 1972.
After retirement, Frank devoted his time to: working with/on construction equipment, raising cattle, "tinkering" with old farm tractors, and maintaining decades-long friendships. Frank, with several of his close friends, formed the Creedmoor Tractor Club.
Frank and Carolyn were 16-year members of the Jubilee/Impact Family Church.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents Oma and Edith Tiner Hemphill, Leon Hemphill (brother), and brothers-in-law; Robert Dittmar, William Dittmar, and Richard Dittmar.
Frank is survived by: Carolyn Dittmar Hemphill, Scott Hemphill (Glenna), Lisa Granger(Steve), grandsons; Matthew Hemphill and Tyler Goodson(Alexandra), step-granddaughters; Kaylee Granger and Krystia Braswell, sisters; Janell Smoot(Ralph), Wilma Barker(Harry), sisters-in-law; Lucille Holden (Arnold), Laura Hunter, Pat Dittmar as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family wishes to express their appreciation to Tim Lyke, Pat Dittmar, James Washington (deceased), Elmcroft Senior Living, and Cella Bella Hospice for their excellent care.
Memorials may be given to the Impact Family Church or St. Jude's Children's Hospital. Flowers are appreciated.
Pallbearers will be: Andy Walker, Dennis Brown, Don Alan Hemphill, Jim Hollis, Jim O' Conner, Jimmy Schmidt, Pastor Robert Wilhite, Sherman Eckols, and Tim Lyke.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 27 at 1:00 PM at Impact Family Church, followed by services at 2:00 PM with Pastor John Larkham and Pastor Jimmy Seal officiating.
