Our dearest Albina Marie Garcia, age 69, lifetime resident of East Austin, was called to our Heavenly Father on Sunday, February 9, 2025. She was joyfully greeted in Heaven by her parents, Frank C. Garcia and Albina R. Garcia, along with her brothers, Jaime and Raul. Albina is survived by her children, April Marie Serrano (Pedro) and Raul Enrique Saldana (Maria); her precious grandchildren, Lorenzo, Sophia, Joaquin, Susannah and Royal; her siblings, Frank Garcia, Jr. (Faye), Fred R. Garcia (Carmen), Linda G. Reyes (Benigno), and Alice G. Walker (Christopher); her bonus siblings, Michael Arispe (Monica), Adam Rodriguez (Mary Helen), Jose Ruiz (Susan), and Edward Tovar, along with numerous nieces and nephews that each shared a special bond with their Tia Mia, her loving aunt, uncles, a circle of cherished cousins, and many friends that turned into family. Albina, lovingly known as “Marie”, attended Zavala Elementary, Martin Junior High and was a proud "Class of 1975" graduate of Johnston High School. She also attended Austin Community College, where she completed her general education credits in hopes of maybe one day becoming a nurse. Albina spent her early career as a nurse’s aide for several local Austin-area nursing home facilities where she treated each patient with dignity, patience and love. Being kind came natural to her, she made sure to remember their names and in their final moments she never hesitated to be at their side so they felt the love of Christ. Throughout the years, Albina worked for numerous grocery stores as the “coupon lady” handing out samples of products and helping customers find an item at the lowest price because every penny counts. Albina also worked in the food service and cleaning service dept for Travis County, as well as a few local restaurants, hotels, dry cleaners and office buildings. All her hard work was done in sacrifice to raise her children with love and provide them with the best within her means. Albina made time to volunteer at Zavala Elementary for her children from baking cupcakes to assisting with the monthly fundraisers. She also followed in her parents’ footsteps and shared her arts and crafts talent with the Children’s Religious Education program and supported adults in their spiritual journey enrolled in the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults at Cristo Rey Catholic Church. Albina loved spending time with her family and friends, crafting, baking, dancing, shopping, and making floral arrangements. Later in life, Albina devoted her time to being a caregiver to her parents as well as family and friends in their time of need. She will be fondly remembered for her golden heart, her strength and the ability to look for the good in everyone. The laughs, love and guidance truly made an impact on so many. Serving as pallbearers are: Frank Hernandez Jr., Rene Hernandez, Christopher Garcia, Michael Smith, Pedro Hernandez, Benigno Reyes Jr., Brian Clark and Francisco Reyes. Honorary pallbearers will be Royal Saldana, Lorenzo Serrano, Joaquin Serrano, and Pedro Serrano. The family would like to thank the DaVita El Milagro Dialysis team for all of their loving care as well as the caring doctors and nurses she met in her time of need. Visitation will be held from 5:00-9:00 p.m. with Recitation of Holy Rosary beginning at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, February 24, 2025 at Mission Funeral Home - East Side, 1615 E. Cesar Chavez St., Austin, Texas. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at Cristo Rey Catholic Church, 2208 E. 2nd St. Austin, Texas. Burial will follow at Santa Maria Cemetery, Pflugerville, Texas. https://missionmemorials.com/obituaries/albina-garcia
