Rosemary Gonzales (Gero) - Class Of 1968

Rose Marie Gero 1946 - 2008 Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, sister, friend, Rose Marie Gero, age 61 resident of Austin was called by our Heavenly Father on January 2, 2008. She was preceded in death by her father Martin Gonzales Sr., sister Nora Gonzales, brother Alex Gonzales Sr. and grandson Christopher Hernandez. She is survived by her boyfriend, Luis Guerrero; sons, Rodolfo Hernandez Jr., Christopher Rene Hernandez and wife Denise, Ray Gero and wife Amie; daughters, Michelle Hernandez and husband Frank, Roxanne Zamora and husband Rolando; mother, Beatrice Gonzales; brothers, Martin Gonzales Jr. and wife Mary, Edward Gonzales and wife Carmen; sisters, Linda Acosta and husband Ruben, Molly Gonzales; 13 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; many nieces, nephews, family and friends. Recitation of Holy Rosary will be recited on Friday at 7:00 p.m., Mission Funeral Serenity Chapel 6204 South First Street (South). Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Julia Catholic Church, with Rev. John Boiko officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Oaks Memorial Park Cemetery in Austin. The family would like to give a special thank you to everyone who has been involved in Rose's care and in her support system since her diagnosis in September 2006. Rosemary was diagnose with a very aggressive cancerous brain tumor call Glioblastoma Multiforme on September 27, 2006 found tumor on the right side of her brain. It was a long road for her. She kept her faith in God and fought her illness to the end. The harder thing for her was leaving all her loved ones behind specially her children and grandkids. She worked as a child development teacher with the Del Valle ISD for 17 years and had to retire early due to her illness.
