Rickye Besvil Henderson, was the third child born to John Adolph Henderson, Sr. and Mattie Irene James on September 16, 1947 in Travis County, Texas.

"Big Rick" attended Austin Public Schools, and graduated from Albert Sidney Johnson High School in 1966. After completion of high school, Rickye enlisted in the United States Army and served in the Vietnam War.

He confessed a hope in Christ at an early age. On Wednesday, January 26, 2011 his Lord and Savior called him home.

His parents, John and Irene Henderson and only brother, John Adolph Henderson, Jr. preceded him in death.

Rickye leaves to mourn his passing; his only sister, Beverly Meeks of Austin, Texas; three sons, Keith E. Carter (Yvette), Russell W. Carter (Rachel), and Rickye B. Henderson (Marion) all of Austin, Texas; two daughters, Tyeeia Mercer and Ursula Henderson both of Austin, Texas; 11 grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and relatives.
