Ralph Arevalo - Class Of 1966 VIEW PROFILE

Ralph Rodriguez Arevalo, 76, of Del Valle, Texas, went peacefully to be with the Lord Friday, November 8, 2024, following a years-long battle with cancer.

Ralph was born July 20, 1948 in San Antonio, Texas, the only son of Rosaleo “Charlie” Arevalo and Benita Rodriguez Arevalo.

Ralph leaves behind his wife of over 55 years, Rachel Lugo Arevalo; his beloved daughters Stephanie, and husband Manuel Saldaña, and Betty Marie and husband Ruben Hernandez; the pride of his life, his five grandchildren, Manny Saldaña, Teresa Saldaña Muñoz (Kevin), Mia Jo Saldaña, Lily Pearl Hernandez, and Ruben Rafael Hernandez.

Ralph is also survived by his siblings Mary Louise Salazar, Esther Hernandez, Mary Esther Salas, Elizabeth Gil, Ruth Maldonado and husband Antonio Maldonado, and Rosanna Arevalo; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, former foster children, and other family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings Rosa Aldaco, Pete Arevalo, and Rosaleo Arevalo, Jr.

Since he was a teenager, Ralph worked as a truck driver for his father’s produce company, Arevalo Produce, for over 40 years. Prior to his retirement, Ralph worked driving shuttle buses at Austin-Bergstrom Airport. Ralph enjoyed watching NASCAR, Drag Racing, and attending car shows. Although he was not a certified mechanic, Ralph loved to dabble with mechanics and completed almost all his own automotive and small engine repair and maintenance.

Ralph and Rachel were foster parents for over thirty years. They provided a loving and supportive home for numerous children and were regularly visited by several former foster children through the years.

The family extends a sincere thanks to the staff, nurses, doctors, and student nurses at Hospice Austin - Christopher House for the care and support of Ralph and the family during his time there.

Pallbearers are Manuel Saldaña, Manny Saldaña, Ruben Hernandez, Kevin Muñoz, Pete Quintero, Jr., Chris Villanueva, Roy Saucedo, and Ted Alba. Honorary Pallbearers are Marisa Villanueva and Deanna Villanueva.

Visitation will be held beginning at 5:00 pm on Thursday, November 14, 2024 at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 2620 South Congress Ave, Austin, Texas with a Memorial Service to begin at 6:00 pm.

A Funeral Service will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Friday, November 15, 2024 at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home.

Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery.
