Billy Gene Harris was born December 2, 1948 to Willis (Bill) Harris and Etta Cyphers Harris in Fentress, Texas.  He attended public school in Austin, Texas.  While attending Central Texas Junior College in Temple, Texas, he was drafted into the U.S. Army serving in the Viet Nam War.  After his tour of duty he attended Prairie View A&M University in Prairie View, Texas.  He professed a hope in Christ at St. Peter's A.M.E. Church under the leadership of Rev. Frank Purnell.  He was united in holy matrimony on October 14, 1983 to Sarah M. Elliott.  Billy was preceded in death by his father.  He leaves to cherish his memories his wife Sarah;mother Etta Harris of Austin, Texas;stepmother Elvie Harris of Odessa, Texas;six brothers, Jerry W. Harris, and Kenneth Harris of Austin, Texas, Willie Washington (Kelly) of Glendale, Arizona, Steven Harris of Long Beach, California, Victor Harris (Sandra) of Godfrey, Illinois, and Christopher Harris (Becky) of Odessa, Texas;father and mother-in-law John O. Elliott (Ester) of Hacienda Heights, California;eleven nephews;four nieces;five grand nieces;and a glorious of host of aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.
