Jesse Perez Govea

May 30, 1951  -  February 22, 2022

JESSE P GOVEA

On the evening of Tuesday, February 22, 2022, Jesse Govea was called by our Heavenly Father after battling cancer since 2016 he was 70 years of age

He entered this world on May 30, 1951, in Austin Texas born to Thomas and Margaret Govea, their first born.

A beloved son, husband, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, Jesse is survived by his children Nicole and Vincent Serna, Monica and Joey Padron, Jesse Jr. and Denise Govea, Angie and Martin Prambs, and Ashley and Michael Furber and 16 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Brothers and sisters, Julia Lopez, Raymond Govea, Joe Hernandez, Monica Hernandez, Rudy Hernandez, and Carmen Herrera.

Jesse worked for the City of Austin for 23 years, he retired in 2012. His passion for music was indescribable, he was a perfectionist and might I say bad ass with his bajo sexto. He loved when he had gigs, you would always catch him on the stage with a huge smile and jamming out with the band.
His musician friends meant the world to him, they always brought him joy.
You can also always catch Jesse in some nice Dallas Cowboys, Houston Astros, and Texas Longhorn gear. He loved watching his teams play.
And come morning time you were guaranteed to find him at one of his breakfast spots. It never failed he was bound to run into someone he knew.

He met the love of his life Gloria at a dance hall called Top Hat in 1980 where he watched her dance all night long never asked her to dance but by the end of the night, he made sure he asked for her phone number, it was a done deal after that. His love for her is out of this world, their bond and love were amazing to see. We can all only wish to have that kind of love after 42 years of marriage.

Jesse was surrounded by his children who he adored with all his heart.
Being a kind dependent father was the most utmost importance to him.
He was such a supporting, loving, caring, and giving father that anyone could ever ask for. Jesse's grand kids were everything to him. He would always speak highly of them, it brought him joy to have conversations about his grandkids. Being Popo is the best gift God could have ever given him.

He was preceded in passing by his brother Ricky Herendez, and his brother Danny Hernandez, his mother Margaret Govea, his father Thomas Govea.

Please join Jesse's family for a time of visitation on Friday March 4th, 2022, at Harrell Funeral Home, 1715 Kirby, Kyle, TX, from 5:00 - 6:00 pm. Graveside services will follow at Assumption Cemetery, 3650 S I-35 Frontage Rd, Austin, TX, on Saturday March 5th, 2022, at 10:00 am.

In conclusion the family cannot thank everyone enough for continuous support to all of us during this extremely difficult time. Jesse will forever be in our hearts watching over us and his legacy will forever live on through us and his music.
