
Edward was born on January 2nd, 1952and passed away on April 13th, 2020at the age of 68.
Edward James McMillon, Sr. was born on January 2, 1952 to Albert Charles McMillon, Sr. and Colvita White in East Bernard, Texas. Edward accepted the Lord at an early age at Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church. He later became a member of the Greater Love Baptist Church in 2010 and was ordained as a Deacon on June 4, 2016. He attended the St. John District BTU Congress for Adult Devotional Talk and placed 1st in June 4, 2012 and June 4, 2018. Edward James McMillon was a "Faithful Servant" at Greater Love Baptist Church and served on the GLBC Board of Deacons, Usher, Sound Ministry, Fresh Food Pantry, Golden Harvest Senior Outreach Ministry, After the Storm Ministry, The Fork in the Road Ministry, GLBC Lawn Maintenance ,GLBC Male Chorus, GLBC Security & Custodian, Director of the BLBC Clothes Closet, President of the GLBC Brotherhood, and Coordinator for the Senior Citizen Lawn Service. He attended Bible Study Regularly. Edward was well known as quoting scriptures from the Bible by memory and has read the Bible several times from start to finish. He was an active supporter of the Greater Love Baptist Church until his death. Edward attended Kealing Middle School and Johnston High School in Austin, Texas and was a Contracted Licensed Electrician. He received certificates of completion for the following trades, Computer Technology and Refrigeration. Edward also attended Austin Bartending School and Austin Community College. He was issued a Humanitarian Award by Councilman Greg for acts of heroism on Saturday, October 18, 1969 for entering a burning building and saving the lives of three children. Edward was well respected throughout the Community for his acts of kindness. He was fun, loving and full of laughter. He had a heart of gold and always put others before himself. Edward was never ashamed of giving his testimony of how the Lord saved him and how it changed his life forever. He was a mentor to many people that might have been headed down the wrong direction of life. His favorite pastime was spending time being a "SERVANT" to his leaders Pastor Isaac Grant, Jr. and Lady-Elect Min, Constance D. Grant and his church family. Oftentimes you may pass by the church and find him alone outside reading his Bible or cleaning up the church grounds before Sunday service. Greater Love Baptist Church was his first home and he will be greatly missed. Proceeding him in death were his father Albert Charles McMillon, Sr., stepfather Charles White, son Edward James McMillon, Jr., brothers Albert Charles McMillon, Jr., David McMillon, grandparents Vastine and Nora Hayes, aunt Emma Johnson, uncles Ed Hayes, Willie Hayes, James Hayes, Leo Hayes and Cleo Hayes. Left to cherish his memory are his mother Colvita White, Austin, TX; sisters Christelle Moore (Michael), Pflugerville, TX, Lela Ruth McMillon, Austin, TX, Merlene Ross, Rosenberg, TX, and Charlotte Evette McMillon, Waco, TX; brothers Melvin Earl McMillon, Waco, TX, Timothy Glenn McMillon, and Rodell McMillon both of Rosenberg, TX; special friend Vicki Robertson; best friend George Stowers and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
