Wilson McWilliams - Class Of 1970 VIEW PROFILE

Wilson Raymond McWilliams, son of Dorothy and Marcellus McWilliams whom preceded him into glory along with his sister, Catherine Hunt and nephew, Richard Wills, Jr.

Wilson was born on October 24, 1950, in Shreveport, LA, and lived in Natchitoches, LA, before the family moved to Austin, TX. Wilson attended Albert Sidney Johnston High School. After high school he joined the Navy and served during the Vietnam Era, in which he was a part of the Basic Underwater Demolition/ Seal Team. Later after his military career, Wilson met Camilla at a Reagan High School football game and later fell in love, they were married on October 28, 1978, joining their lives and families in which they have 6 children.

Wilson, “Pype” as he was called by his grandchildren; “Dad” by his children, “Mac” or “Billy” as he was affectionately known by those who loved him, was a loving family man. He tried to attend every sports game or event that his grandchildren participated in. Just like the post man, he wanted to be there rain, sleet or snow. Mac coached football, track, and adult softball. He was an avid sports fan in which he took great pride in and didn’t mind getting thrown out of the games. Billy’s work career consisted of various jobs including Travis State School, IBM, City of Austin, Mac Serve and Adesa Auction, just to name a few.

Wilson confessed his faith and was baptized at New Lincoln Baptist Church. He moved his membership to St. Peters United Methodist Church. At St. Peters he served as a Trustee, President and Secretary of the United Methodist Men, President of the Male Chorus and a Greeter where he watched and guarded the entrance faithfully. Mac also co-chaired with his wife, Camilla the St. Peters Marriage Ministry “Endless Love”.
