Tony was born on November 1st, 1951 and passed away on September 25th, 2024 at the age of 72.

Tony H. Mendoza “Big T”, a lifelong resident of Austin, Texas, was born on November 1, 1951, and was called to our Heavenly Father on September 25, 2024. Tony was a man whose spirit mirrored the vibrancy of the city he called home. As a proud native Austinite, Tony spent 72 remarkable years in the heart of Texas, carving out a life that was as unique and captivating as he was. A dedicated father, loving brother, and doting grandfather, Tony's infectious laughter, sharp wit and generous heart were the glue that held his family together. Tony attended Johnston High School and graduated in 1970. After high school he began working at Glastron Boats and later went to work at the City of Austin, where he worked diligently for 30 years and his dedication to hard work was only surpassed by his commitment to his family. A pillar of strength for his children, Tony Mendoza, Jr. and wife Sherry, and Eric Mendoza and wife Brenda, who follow his values of hard work, resilience, and love for family. Tony is survived by the mother of his children, Teresa (Terri) Scott and his siblings, Angelina Guerra, Domingo (Billy) Mendoza, Jr. (Gloria), Stella Jaramillo (Bruno), Andrea Hernandez, Gloria Martinez (Charles), and Robert Mendoza (Annabel), will remember him as the brother who always had a story to lighten the mood or a piece of advice to help navigate through hard times. His spirit lives on in his grandchildren, Andrea Faith Mendoza and wife Shelby Smith, Eric Nicholas Mendoza, Antonio McCaleb Mendoza, Brendan Andrew Mendoza and Mya Luz Mendoza, who will carry with them his love for life and his indomitable spirit. Tony is preceded in death by his loving parents, Domingo Mendoza, Sr. and Andrea H. Mendoza, and sisters, Janie Segura, Josie Torres, Irene Mendoza and his brothers-in-law Richard Guerra, Manuel Segura and Leopoldo Hernandez. Serving as pallbearers will be grandsons Eric Nicholas Mendoza, Antonio McCaleb Mendoza, Brendan Andrew Mendoza, nephew Robert Martinez and great-nephews Eric Polanco and Brandon Rivera. We invite you to join us in celebrating Tony's life. The Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held on Thursday, October 3, 2024, at 7:00 pm at the Mission Funeral Home Chapel, 1615 E. Cesar Chavez, Austin, Texas 78702. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, October 4, 2024, at 9:30 am at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 1209 E. 9th St., Austin, Texas 78702. Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery, 3650 S. IH-35, Austin, Texas 78704. The Family ask in attendance for the Funeral Services to wear Burnt Orange and White Colors in honor of Tony's favorite "The University of Texas Longhorns".
