Obituary for Anthony "Tony" Perez

Anthony "Tony" Perez of Austin was called home by our Heavenly Father on April 4, 2017. He passed on peacefully surrounded by family and friends. His family sincerely thanks the staff of St. David's Heart Hospital of Austin for their care and kindness.

Tony was born in Austin, Texas on August 27, 1952 to Elizabeth Carrol and Mario Perez. Tony attended Johnston High School where he met his high school sweetheart, Sylvia Perez. They married on August 24, 1974 and were blessed with 42 years of marriage and two daughters.

Tony was always a sports fan, but baseball captured his heart early on. He could always be found at the fields with his friends in his younger days and those friends became family to not only Tony, but his wife and children as well. A lifelong University of Texas fan, Tony followed his beloved Longhorns through their highs and lows. His grandchildren were the light of his life and he was a doting grandfather who was deeply loved.

He is survived by his wife and two daughters, Michelle (Dan) Perez and Nicole (Enrique) Gonzalez, his grandchildren Gabriel, Sofia, and Anthony Gonzalez, and sisters Janie Amaro, Christina Perez, Josie (Joe) Rodriguez, his brother Henry Perez (Sharon) and numerous nieces and nephews.

The Rosary will be held at 7 PM on Sunday April 9th at Weed-Corley-Fish, 2620 S. Congress Avenue. Services will take place at Dolores Catholic Church at 10 AM on Monday April 10th with interment to follow at Forest Oaks Memorial Park.
