Linda Kay Jones Smith died peacefully March 7, 2013 at her home in Austin, TX. She was born December 6, 1952 to Albert and Mae Dell Jones in Teague, TX. Linda earned her diploma from Albert Sidney Johnston High School in 1971. She also earned an Associate's Degree from Austin Community College. She retired from the State of Texas after 25 years of being a highly respected and dedicated employee. Linda accepted Christ at an early age. She was a devoted member for many years at the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Austin, TX under the leadership of the late Pastor J. J. Dixon. She then served at Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church where she was a part of the Music Ministry, Women's Ministry and many other organizations. Her sister Sheila Jones and her mother Mae Dell Jones preceded her in death and she is survived by her father Albert Jones Jr. Linda also leaves to cherish her precious memories her children, Terence and Derinda Hunter, grandchildren, Adrian and Whitney Hunter, four brothers, Lee, Robert, Shawn, and Victor Jones, two sisters, Lois and Ola Jones, nieces, nephews, stepchildren, step grandchildren, and a host of close relatives and friends. The visitation is from 6 PM until 8 PM on Friday, March 15, 2013 at the Austin-Pee and Son Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 10 AM on Saturday, March 16, 2013 at the Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church. Pastor A. W. Anthony Mays will be officiating. The burial will be at the Antioch Cemetery in Teague, TX.
