In Memory

Johnny Lopez - Class Of 1973

LOPEZ, Johnny (11/26/1955-1/2/2018) Johnny Lopez passed unexpectedly at the beginning of the year. The Austin, Texas native lived in Woodland Park, having moved to Colorado 25 years ago. Though he grew up in Central Texas, Johnny came to love the mountains and their winters. He moved with his wife, Darla, to Colorado in 1993, and they raised their two children, Jensen and Johnny. His oldest son, Elton, lives in Houston. Johnny called Colorado home, and his friends, co-workers at StarTek Health, and the parishioners from Our Lady of the Woods in Woodland Park saw him as an indispensable part of their communities. He loved Texas, though, and would visit as often as he could. He was a lifelong fan of the Dallas Cowboys, the Texas Longhorns, and of brisket and sausage. Johnny is survived by Darla, Jensen, and Johnny Lopez; Elton Lopez; his mother, Lola Lopez; sisters Jo Ann Lopez and Barbara (Vincent) Godoy; sister-in-law Hope Rivera; and his mother-in-law, Ruth Snively. He also is loved and missed by three grandchildren, six nieces, and nine nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Johnnie Lopez; his brothers Roy and Joe Rivera; and his niece, Valerie Godoy.
