Janie Tellez was born November 13, 1953, in Austin, Texas to Susie and Frutoso Casarez. Janie lived her life in Austin and after graduating from Johnston High School went on to work for various companies such as Selectron and Motorola. Janie was a diligent worker often working two jobs most of her life. While Janie never had children of her own, she was known to spoil her nieces and nephews and treated them as her own.

Janie peacefully passed away on Sunday, August 31, 2014. Joining in the hereafter, her mother, Susie Casarez and her sisters Laura Flores and Carmen Ramirez.

Janie is survived by her father, Frutoso Casarez; sisters Rosemary Mendez, Susie Ayala; brother Junior Tellez, as well as 6 nieces; 5 nephews and 26 great-nieces and nephews. 

Special thanks to Brodie Ranch Rehabilitation Center and New Center Hospice for caring for Janie at the end of her life. We will greatly miss Janie and her giving spirit. We are grateful she is resting now.

Recitation of Holy Rosary 7:00 p.m., Thursday at Mission Funeral Home Serenity Chapel 6204 South First Street. (South).

Mass of Christian Burial 10:00 a.m., Friday at San Jose Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery.
