In Loving Memory of Mr. Mario C. Costilla November 17, 1957  - May 9, 2002

Mr. Mario C. Costilla, 44, of Del Valle, passed away Thursday, May 9, 2002 in a tragic auto accident. He was born November 17, 1957 to Frank and Olivia Costilla of Austin, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his Father, Frank (Pancho) Costilla, daughter, Nicole (Nikki) Costilla, and grandson, Brandon Julian Costilla-Gutierrez.
Mario is survived by his wife of 20 years, Sandy Costilla, daughters, Latisha Soriano-Rodriguez, Michelle Costilla, one and only son, Christopher Costilla, sons-in-law, Fernando Rodriguez, and Jorge Luis Gutierrez, Jr., his most cherished pride and joy, grand-daughter, Daliyah Nichole Rodriguez (Yaya), mother, Olivia Costilla, sisters, Marie Perez, Diana Gil, and Cynthia Costilla-Aguero, one and only brother, Fred Costilla, mother-in-law, Shirley Rodriguez, sisters-in-law, Teresa Baca-Johnson, Maryann Baca-Esparza, Angelica Ramirez-Costilla, brothers-in-law, Frank Hernandez, Dale Johnson, Ricky Gil, and Henry Aguero, numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He is also survived by Tony, Carrie, and Linda Romero, who he always called his second family.
Mario was a great husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, co-worker, neighbor, and friend. Throughout his years he served in the U.S. Navy, worked for Austin American  Statesman, Old Mexico Bakery, and Brown Distributing (Budweiser). His favorite past time was coaching his daughters and many young girls Softball at Del Valle Little League. He enjoyed hunting and most of all spending time with his family.
Mario was deeply loved and will be missed by all.
Serving as pallbearers will be Rick Espinoza, Jesse Lara, Frank Hernandez, Frank Gil, Ricky Colunga, and Eddie Costilla.
Honorary pallbearers will be Tony Gil and Fred Costilla.
Recitation of the rosary will be at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. Julia Catholic Church. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Julia Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Assumption Cemetery.
