Barry Dwayne Crayton was born on July 29, 1957, in Austin, Texas to Grayson and Louise Jennings-Taylor Crayton. He confessed Christ at young age attending Greater Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church and participated in a wide range of youth programs and activities.
Barry attended grade schools and graduated from A. S. Johnston High School where he was an all-around outstanding sports athletic letterman. Along Barry's post-high school academic journey, he attended New Mexico Military Institute in Roswell, New Mexico and Texas Christian University (TCU) in Fort Worth, Texas.
A notable fact: our Barry accomplished tryouts as a walk-on for the Dallas Cowboys!!!
Barry spent summers as a lifeguard at the neighborhood pool in the community where he grew up. His life skills led him to professionally printing and private security. Barry resided in the Dallas Metroplex Area for more than 30 years and also mastered barbering skills.
Barry was devoted to the Lord and frequently penned scriptures accompanied by words of encouragement for his family members. His imagination was vibrant and inventive, often conjuring up a variety of scenarios.
Barry was preceded in death by his father, Grayson Crayton, mother, Louise Jennings-Taylor Crayton, brother, Victor "Veto" Crayton, sister, Pearline M. Crayton, grandmother, Kathaleen Conway "Big Mama", grandfather, Glover Crayton "Big Daddy”, uncles, Waymon Crayton and Vernon Crayton, and aunts, Vernice Melontree and Mable May.
Barry leaves to mourn but cherish his wonderful memory, a loving wife of 39 years, Jackie D. Harris-Crayton of Austin, Texas (he affectionately referred to her as Brown Eyes). His one and only earthly son, Courtney Benjamin Crayton of Austin, Texas, two grandchildren, Symonne Lee and Tytan Benjamin Crayton of San Marcos, Texas, sister, Grace M. Crayton-Sanders (Bryan) of Irving, Texas, brother, Larry Crayton of Garland, Texas, sister, Yvette Price (Dwain) of Plano, Texas, nieces, Tiffiany M.Sanders-Robinson (Travis) of Irving, Texas, Angel Smith of Garland, Texas, nephew, Leo “Lee Lee” Brown III of Garland, Texas, Wesley Price of Plano, Texas, great-nieces, Angellek Patterson and Alia Jefferson both of Garland, Texas, aunt, Erma Wallace, great-aunt, Christine “Aunt Sissy” Terrell of Austin, Texas and a host of relatives and friends. https://www.paradisefh.com/obituary/barry-d-crayton
