Pedro "Pete" Cortez died at the age of 42 on September 3,2002. Worked in the printing industry as a press operator, was an avid sports fan, and a builder of model cars.  He is survived by his daughter, Katarina Irma Cortez;parents, Gerardo and Maria Antonia Cortez;sisters, Anita Cortez Moreno and husband Manual, Magadalena Cortez and Rosie Cortez; brother, Ramon "Ray" Cortez, all of Austin.
