Henry P Herrera - Class Of 1966

In Loving Memory of Mr. Henry P. (Cheerios) Herrera February 3, 1948 – May 1, 2009 Mr. Henry P. (Cheerios) Herrera, 61, of Austin , passed away Friday, May 1, 2009 . Funeral mass will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at St. Julia Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Assumption Cemetery . Mr. Herrera was preceded in death by his father, Fidel T. Herrera, mother, Guadalupe Perez Herrera, brothers, Arnold P. and Joe P. Herrera. He is survived by his wife, Carmen Gil Herrera, children, Jennifer Herrera (Toody), Veronica Herrera, Roxanne Herrera (Raymond), Henry Herrera (Gina), and Michael Joshua Compton, sisters, Teresa Regalado (John), Mary Alice Medel (Oscar), brothers, Fidel Herrera, Jr. (Mary), Alfred P. Herrera (Alamar), and 10 grandchildren. Henry served in the U.S. Navy as an Aviation Seaman First Class on the USS Dubuque aircraft carrier during the Vietnam war. He was stationed in Beeville, Texas for 2 years and in San Diego, California for another 2 years. During the years he served his country, Henry traveled to numerous countries throughout the world and enjoyed learning about different cultures, sending and bringing gifts for his family and friends from all over the world. Henry graduated from Johnston High School and was voted most handsome. Upon return from his Naval commitment, he attended Austin Community College, and resumed participation in City League Softball. Honored to serve as pallbearers are Henry E. Herrera, Zachary Herrera, Raymond Alvarez, Raymond Joe Gil, Albert Gil, and John Rey Regalado. Honorary pallbearers are Eufemio Castillo, Jr., Michael J. Compton, Danny Fuentes, Orlando Ruiz, Jr., and Nick Lowry. Services under the direction of the ANGEL FUNERAL HOME. (512) 441-9738
