Lillie Castillo Delgado - Class Of 1965

Lillie Delgado Round Rock ISD has lost a member of its family with the passing of Lillie Delgado, who lost her battle with a long illness on Wednesday, April 4, 2012. She was born on February 1, 1947 to Trinidad and Lidia (Castillo) Delgado in Bastrop. Lillie Delgado faithfully served the students and staff of Round Rock ISD for 42 years. She was hired by Round Rock ISD right out of high school in January 1970 as a teacher's aide at Central Elementary School and served as the Secretary to the Superintendent since 1977. Lillie's passion for detail and perfectionism helped shape Round Rock ISD's reputation as being one of the best school districts in Texas. She was committed to all 52 Board Members and the Superintendents she served throughout her career: Noel Grisham, Norman Hall, Alice Brown, Brent Rock, Dan McLendon, Tom Norris, Mike Jolly, Tom Gaul, Steve Flores, Toni Garcia, and Jesus H. Chavez. Lillie was the constant and steady voice that led behind the scenes to ensure Board Members and Superintendents were successful. Her colleagues describe her as an exceptional woman who fought to the very end to live life to the fullest. Not only was she a mentor to new employees, but she was faithful and loyal to all Round Rock ISD stakeholders. Words cannot describe the tremendous void Lillie leaves behind. Lillie's smile and laughter will forever be missed but certainly not forgotten and those who knew her well are forever grateful for being a part of her life. Lillie officially retired from the district in February of 2012 and to honor Lillie's many years of service, the Round Rock ISD Board of Trustees approved adding her signature to the graduate diplomas for the 2011-2012 school year. Lillie is preceded in death by her father, Trinidad Delgado and her sister, Janie Delgado. Those left behind to cherish her memory are her mother, Lidia C. Serna; children, Stephen Zamarripa, Adrian Zamarripa, and Louis Ayala; sisters, Deborah Luna and Helen D. Pichardo; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her beloved Yorkie, Chica. Family and friends are invited to a visitation to be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, April 9, 2012 at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home, with rosary and prayer services beginning at 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at St. William's Catholic Church in Round Rock. Interment will follow at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery. The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the Third Floor Nursing Staff at Round Rock Medical Center for their support and care of Lillie.
