Robert Lopez Rangel Robert Lopez Rangel passed away suddenly and peacefully on November 7, 2007. A life long resident of Austin, Robert was an exceptional husband, father, and a gifted businessman who earned the love and respect from the people who knew him in his fifty-seven years of life. Robert was born on June 7, 1950, the fourth son of an East Austin family. At an early age, he took on the duties of providing for his mother and siblings. Coming from humble beginnings, he excelled due to his diligent work ethic; a graduate of Southwest Texas State, Robert was always committed to personal growth through education and experience. He held many positions in both retail and management prior to founding, owning and operating R&R Discount Furniture on Research Blvd., then opened a second successful location on Ben White. Robert spent the next fifteen years of his life working alongside his wife and sons to create a thriving company, along with other business ventures and projects. He was fair in business as he was in his life. Robert cherished family meals because they were a constant reminder of the important things in life. Robert would use his signature phrase "Is this every Saturday night?" His constant humor made people reflect on the goodness of life. A beloved husband and father, Robert is survived by his wife of 32 years, whom he adored, Marilyn Villegas Rangel; his two devoted sons, Robert V. Rangel and Vincent V. Rangel. Robert is also survived by his loving mother, Dominga Rangel; brothers, Arthur Rangel, Ray Rangel, Ruben Rangel; sisters, Delia Rangel Bustillo, Debbie Rangel Aguirre. Robert was blessed with scores of family, friends and associates who have kept him in their thoughts and prayers. He will be greatly missed and his family wishes to thank all for understanding the need to grieve in private during these difficult times.
