Cedric Griffin - Class Of 1984 VIEW PROFILE

GRIFFIN, Sir Cedric E.
Sir Cedric Emil Griffin passed away suddenly on Feb 19, 2015 of a pulmonary embolism. He was born on June 4, 1966 in Corpus Christi, TX to Herbert H. and Patsy L. Griffin. Cedric attended Maplewood Elementary and Allan Jr High. He graduated class of 1984 from A.S. Johnston High School in Austin, TX. At Johnston High he served as Vice-President of the Rams Outdoor club and participated in the Black History Club. Cedric played football, basketball, and ran track. Soon after graduation Cedric enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. Cedric served three years of active duty and 3 years of reserve duty. In 1987 Cedric completed Non-Commissioned Officer Training School and was promoted to Lance Corporal. Cedric was honorably discharged in 1990 from his beloved Marine Corps. Cedric was extremely proud to have been a part of Marine Corps. He took every opportunity to exemplify the motto "Semper Fi" in word and deed. After the military Cedric attended ITT Technical Institute where he made the Dean's List. Cedric dreamed of seeing all 50 states so Cedric got a job working as a long range trucker for CR England Trucking. He had sense of awe on how uniquely beautiful each state is. Cedric was a deeply caring loyal friend and family member. He never hesitated to help someone. Cedric loved the outdoors. He could often be seen riding around on his favorite red Kawasaki motorcycle. Cedric's cycling nickname was "Kawboy". 
Cedric is survived by Patsy L. Griffin (mother), Herbert H. Griffin (father) and step-mother Debra Wallis, Nephiteria A. Griffin (sister), Jocelyn C. Griffin (sister), Halbert H. Griffin (brother) and his wife M. Cecilia, Mecia L. Griffin (sister), and Andre Griffin (brother) and wife Theresa. There are 12 nieces and nephews who he loved very much and a host of grandnieces and grandnephews. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Cedric's memory to the Disabled Veterans Organization (www.dav.org) or the Wounded Warrior Project (woundedwarriorproject.org). A visitation and viewing for family and friends will held at Phillips Upshaw & Richards Funeral home (1410 E. 12th St, Austin, TX) on March 6, 2015 from 3pm to 6pm. 
The Memorial Service to celebrate Cedric will be held on March 7, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Eastside Church of Christ, 5701 E Martin Luther King Blvd, Austin, Tx.
