Edward Velasquez - Class Of 1979

Edward Velasquez, 54, was born to Joe and Clara Velasquez in Austin, Texas, entering this world at a glorious 13.7 pounds. He passed away peacefully on October 6, 2015, surrounded by his family. He graduated from Johnston High School, joined the Texas National Guard, and then had a 25 year career in the Grocery Industry.

Ed leaves behind his beloved wife, Laura, of 31 years, and children Andrew and Victoria, along with his ever faithful pets Chula and Moco. Ed was a genuine GIANT, not only in size at 6’4 but also at heart.

Ed never met a stranger and befriended many including the entire neighborhood, often sharing his love of cooking, grilling and baking with others. He also had a green thumb and loved gardening and maintaining his yard. Ed always took the time to call and check on his family and friends, wanting to let them know he was thinking of them. Ed was a forever loyal Washington Redskins fan in a family of Dallas Cowboys and took the heat for it in fun!

Throughout his many years of illness, Ed maintained a VERY humorous and positive outlook on life – cracking jokes and being silly despite the pain.
Edward leaves behind his loving siblings Joe and his wife Yolanda, Val, David and his wife Rosie, Delfina, Virginia and her husband Pablo, Mary, and his many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

He is preceded in death by his parents Joe and Clara Velasquez and sister Janey.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 9, 2015, at 11:00 am at Beck Funeral Home, located at 4765 Priem Lane, Pflugerville, TX, 78660, with a reception immediately following.
