DEMETRIO ESPINOSA OBITUARY

Demetrio J. Espinosa Dec. 22, 1948 - Oct. 24, 2009 Demetrio Joseph "D.J." Espinosa entered into eternal rest October 24, 2009. D.J. was devoted to his family and was a beloved husband, brother, father and friend. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He was born on December 22, 1948 to Francisco and Juanita Espinosa. He is survived by his wife of 36 years Cordelia Gil Espinosa and his children Gunnery Sgt. Demetrio J. Espinosa Jr., and wife Tanya, Angela Ibarra and husband Tony, Marine Sgt. Mark Espinosa and wife Lori, Edward Espinosa and fiancée Danielle along with grandchildren Julian, Kaitlyn, Tony Jr., Mateo, Jose, Hailey, Ryan and Damien; as well as his siblings Robert, Jesse, Frank Jr., Ruben, Domingo, Freddy, Maria Theresa, Maria Louisa, Pauline, Gloria, Avelina, Margaret, and Martha. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Susan Schumacher, brother-in-law Arthur Garza and niece Elizabeth Ann Saldana. His brothers will be serving as pallbearers. D.J. honorably served his country as a Marine for four years, serving in combat twice in Viet Nam and living his life "always faithful." He selflessly served his community his entire life. D.J. was a devout parishioner of St. Julia's Catholic Church for over 30 years and a faithful member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a member of the Lions Club and the Parque Zaragoza advisory board. D.J. was an H.E.B. Partner for 31 years serving in various positions. He was very generous with his time and talent, donating countless hours supporting H.E.B.'s community outreach efforts with many of the non-profit organizations H.E.B. supports. The Espinosa family would like to express their appreciation and gratitude to their H.E.B. family for their contributions and support. Recitation of Holy Rosary 7:00 p.m., Wednesday at the Mission Funeral Home Serenity Chapel 6204 South First Street. (South). Mass of Christian burial 10:00 a.m., Thursday at St. Julia Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery.
