On December 26, 2009, Susan Aguirre, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and daughter embarked on the next journey of her life and left this world at peace to be reunited with her sister Caroline and father Trinidad. She leaves to cherish and celebrate her life, daughters, Elizabeth Jones, husband Scott, children Charles and Jacob, Elizza Barrera, children, Amanda, Emily and Patrick, Rene Salinas, husband Mike, children Michael, Joshua and Maya, son Jason Clark and wife Laura, great grandchildren Aiden & Gabriella Navarro and Johana Perez. She also leaves her mother, Dolores Aguirre, siblings, Tito Aguirre, Dolores Aguirre, Sandra Trevino, Mary Aguirre and many nieces and nephews. She cherished her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, looking forward to each and every moment she spent with them. She loved dearly her fur baby, Linus, a Chihuahua mix who shared many adventures with her over the years. Susan graduated from A.S. Johnston High School, and quickly thereafter began her long career as a public servant in local county and state government for nearly 30 years. Ever the staunch Democrat she was overjoyed regarding the election of our current President and could spend hours discussing politics with whoever dared engage in these debates with her. Mom we love you and will miss you beyond any words we can convey in these short paragraphs. Although our hearts are broken with the loss of the fire that was your personality, we also know that you are no longer suffering and in pain. We must explain to our hearts that you are at peace and pray that they will eventually cease to ache. Knowing that you will be watching over us, guiding and protecting us as we move forward eases our minds and hearts. We love you so much and will wait patiently for the day when we are reunited with you and can hold your hand once again. The children would like to thank Hospice Austin, specifically Christina and the entire staff at Christopher House for their loving, supportive and sensitive care of their mother in her final hours, especially nurse Carolyn. The family would also like to thank the 2nd floor nursing staff at St. David's Hospital including IMC Supervising Nurse Gena and nurses, Maribel, Tyson, Megan, and Rita for their kind words, laughter and comforting care of their mother. Additionally, a thank you to the James Wall Family from St. George's Episcopal Church for their generous care package during our stay at Christopher House. In accordance with our mother's wishes a private celebration of her life will be held for family and close friends on December 30, 2009 at 7:00p.m. at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home located at 2620 South Congress.
