Jeff Bourgeois

DECEMBER 31, 1966 – OCTOBER 9, 2020

Our family is devastated to share that our beloved Jeffrey Wayne “Jeff” Bourgeois passed away on October 9th from injuries sustained in a car accident in Austin, Texas.

Jeff was born on December 31, 1966, in Massachusetts to his loving parents Roy and Mary Ann Bourgeois. The family resided in Massachusetts until 1982 when they relocated to Austin. Although originally from Massachusetts, Jeff loved Austin and considered it his home.

Jeff was an exemplary student and excelled in both math and science. Jeff graduated from Albert Sidney Johnston High School with honors and went on to receive a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from St. Edwards University.

Jeff had a 20-plus year career in the electronics manufacturing industry at National Instruments. He was a dedicated hard-worker who took a great deal of pride in his work. He even traveled to Malaysia to train the National Instruments team there when the manufacturing was moved overseas. He worked in many positions while at National Instruments. Importantly, with Jeff's great knowledge of products and processes, he would help anyone, at anytime who needed assistance. Recently, he began working at Applied Materials where he enjoyed working with some of his former National Instruments colleagues and making new friends. He was known as a prankster, an easy-going friend and a loyal team member by all who worked with him. He will be deeply missed by so many coworkers and life-long friends at National Instruments.

He loved his family and friends dearly, as well as his many dogs that he adopted throughout his life. He had a huge heart and was always willing to lend a helping hand or open his home to anyone in need. He was an excellent cook-a talent he learned from his mother. Jeff was incredibly loving and never had a bad word to say about anyone. He is remembered by all who knew him as a kind, thoughtful, fiercely loyal, fun-loving husband, son, brother, friend and co-worker. His favorite place to visit was New Orleans; he went there nearly every year to enjoy the food and festivities.

He will be profoundly missed and is mourned by his father, Roy Bourgeois; sister, Michelle Bourgeois-Hager; brother-in-law, Scott Hager; husband, Steve Ellis; sister-in-law Chrissy Cooling, her husband Michael; Godmother, Patricia Lindberg; many loving cousins and friends and his dogs, Misty and Roy, and cat, Boots.

Jeff was proceeded in death by his mother, Mary Ann Bourgeois; paternal grandparents, Roy and Sophie Bourgeois; maternal grandparents, Lawrence and Mary Haby; several uncles and aunts and many beloved dogs including Ricky, Marla, Jake, Jasper, Foster and Bobo. It gives our family comfort to know that Jeff is reunited with his mother with whom he was very close. We know she is holding him in her arms as we hold him in our hearts.

Visitation will be held on October 19, 2020 at 4:00 pm at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, 2620 South Congress Avenue, Austin, TX.
