Richard Alaniz Obituary

After a brief but courageous battle with pancreatic cancer Richard Alaniz, passed away surrounded by his immediate family in the comfort of his own home. Richard, a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, and unwavering love for his family.
Richard was born in Austin, Texas to Candelaria and Jerome Alaniz, He was preceded in death by his parents and his older brother Tommy. He is survived by his loving wife, Elizabeth Olvera Alaniz, his children Melissa Alaniz (Andy Sendejo), Brian Alaniz, and Sharon Alaniz, his grandchildren Matthew Alaniz -Sendejo (Sandy Murillo), Ashle Sendejo, Meghan Alaniz-Sendejo, Ryan Alaniz- Sendejo, Haleigh Alaniz, and Mason Alaniz-Sendejo, and his two great-granddaughters Olivia "sunshine" and Madison "little sunshine." He is also survived by his sister, Dora Garza; brothers, Robert, Ray, Ralph (Josie) Alaniz, sister-in-law Patricia Alaniz and numerous nieces, nephews, great niece's and great nephews.
Richard attended Concordia University, where he gained a strong foundation of knowledge that served him well throughout his life. He went on to have a successful career in the semi-conductor industry, working at IBM and Dell. His dedication and hard work in his professional life were matched only by his commitment to his family, who always remained his top priority.
An avid sports fan, Richard enjoyed watching all sports, but his passion for the Dallas Cowboys, San Antonio Spurs, and the Houston Astros was unrivaled. However, nothing brought him more joy than watching his own grandchildren in their endeavors. Popo, to his grandchildren, was always there, whether it was watching Ryan play football or wrestle, Matthew playing basketball, or Mason "his little Chapman" on the mound playing baseball. He enjoyed watching halftimes shows when Ashle and Meghan played in the band, Richard's pride and love for his family shone through. He cherished hearing Haleigh sing and play the piano, as well as watching her on the volleyball court. Popi (to his great granddaughters), spent countless hours taking Olivia to the park, creating memories that will be treasured by his family forever. He enjoyed having his grand dogs Rocco, Max, Maddie, Mars & Ferrah come over as well.
Richard's loving and generous nature touched the lives of all who knew him. His unwavering support and encouragement of his family's dreams and ambitions were a testament to the depth of his love for them. His kindness extended beyond his family, as he was always willing to lend a helping hand to friends and neighbors in need.
Richard's legacy of love, kindness, and generosity will live on in the hearts of his family and all who were fortunate enough to know him. His memory will be cherished and celebrated by those he leaves behind, as they strive to honor his life by emulating his best qualities.
A visitation will be held on May 9th at Harrell funeral home in Kyle, Tx from 5pm-7pm followed by recitation of the rosary at 7pm. A Funeral Mass will be held on May 10th at St. Anthony's Catholic Church at 10 am in Kyle, Tx where friends and family are invited to come together to remember and celebrate Richard's life.
The Pall Bearers are Matthew Alaniz-Sendejo, Ryan Alaniz-Sendejo, Haleigh Alaniz, Greg Alaniz, Daniel Nava, Mason Alaniz-Sendejo, Anderson Berndt, Pete Cortes.
Rest in peace, Dad. Your memory will be forever etched in the hearts of those who love you, and your spirit will continue to inspire and guide us as we navigate life without you.
