Mary Lina Rangel - Class Of 1991 VIEW PROFILE

Mary Lina Rangel-Castro, age 46, was called home Monday, July 20, 2020. She was born and raised in Austin, Texas. Mary Lina graduated from Johnston High School in 1991. She attended Austin Community College and received an Associate of Art Degree in Government and Associate of Science Degree in Business Administration. She also attended Texas State University and received a Bachelor of Business Administration and in 2011 earned her second bachelor degree in Business Management. Mary Lina's passion was her three boys. She considered her close friends part of her extended family. Mary Lina fought courageously against her cancer since 2005. Mary Lina is preceded in death by her parents, Jesse C. Jr. and Janie Rodriguez Rangel and her paternal and maternal grandparents, Jesus H. and Lina Castro Rangel and Felix and Mary Sanchez Rodriguez; her uncle, Felix Rodriguez, Jr. and aunt, Aurora "Dorie" Rodriguez Perez. Mary Lina is survived by her former husband, Edward Castro, Jr., her sons, Mark Guzman, Jesse Guzman, and Brian Guzman; the father of her children, Anthony Guzman; one sister, brother, Jesse R. Rangel III; Margarette Flores and Jesse Rangel III, godmother and godfather of her children., and nieces, nephews, other loving family and many friends. Honored pallbearers will be Jesse R. Rangel III, Mark Anthony Guzman, Kyle Winters, Jesse Louis Guzman, Edward Castro, Jr. and Joe Rodriguez. Recitation of Holy Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, July 27, 2020 at Mission Funeral Home - South Side, 6204 S. First St., Austin, Texas. Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 27, 2020, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Paul Catholic Church, 10000 David Moore Dr., Austin, Texas. Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery, 3650 S. IH 35 Feeder Rd., Austin, Texas. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made payable to Wonders and Worries at 923 Westbank Dr. #C, West Lake Hills, TX 78746. The family wishes to thank the extraordinary staff at MD Anderson Medical Center in Houston, Texas, and the many family and friends who offered unwavering support.
