Joyce Ann McShane

March 27, 1947 - November 19, 2017

Joyce Ann (Poehl) McShane, also known as “Joy”, age 70 of Round Rock, passed away Sunday, November 19, 2017 in Round Rock.

She was born the daughter of Raymond and Dorothy Poehl on March 27, 1947 in Austin, Texas. Joy married her late husband, James McShane (1942-2014) in Austin on November 27, 1965. They enjoyed life together golfing, gambling and going dancing together. They were very proud members of The Georgetown Country Club.

 Joy also loved to travel, go shopping, playing board and card games such as skat, her dog (Shaker), Mexican food, and of course, a good margarita. Joy worked for over 20 years for the Austin Independent School District and retired as the cafeteria manager for Barrington Elementary School.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband James; and her parents.

Survivors include her two daughters, Lisa Thompson and husband Chris of Seguin, Kimberly Steffek and husband Ken of Hutto; four sisters, Shirley Chandler, Jerri Stephens, Linda Morse, Kathy Gardner; and four grandchildren, Tyler Pavel, Noah Thompson, Nathan Thompson, and Sydnie Pavel.

A Memorial Gathering will be held from 2-4PM, Sunday, November 26, 2017, at The Gabriels Funeral Chapel and Crematory to remember Joy and her life.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials in her name be made to Alzheimer’s Texas,                  3520 Executive Center Dr, STE: 140, Austin, Texas 78731.
