Pedro R Lopez

July 22, 1952  -  January 5, 2024

Our beloved Pedro R. Lopez, Jr, age 71 passed away peacefully on Friday, January 5, 2024 surrounded by his loving family and friends.  Pedro was born July 22, 1952 in Caimanera, Oriente, Cuba and raised in East Austin from the age of 11.  A proud graduate of Albert Sidney Johnston High School, class of 1972, and a loyal Ram for life. After High School, he graduated from Central Texas College.

His passion for working retail groceries started at a young age at Safeway. His acquired management skills eventually lead to his recruitment in the grocery business for Ralph Grocers/Mr. Mc’s on Holly St. In 1982 while working for Rice Grocers, he was recruited to manage stores in Houstin, TX ending his career with

H-E-B.

Pedro fell in love with Houston and all it brought into his life, especially his family.  He was a diehard Redskins fan, and in true fashion of family tradition was a loyal Yankee fan.  He lived life with laughter, music, sports and helping others. There was never a stranger to him.  His father Pedro R. Lopez, Sr., a nephew Gerard Roman Guerrero, predecease him.

Surviving Pedro are his mother Xiomara D. Lopez, his children Sarah M. Ricciardi, Janiel L. Ricciardi (Danny) Annastacia N. Lopez, and Ramon D. Lopez. His loving and caring sister Luz M. Lopez-Guerrero (John), niece Emma E. Guerrero, nephew Tori A. Guerrero. Sarah Ricciardi, the mother of children. He will be missed by 9 grandchildren, his aunts, uncle, cousins and many friends, especially John McCorkle.

The family would like to thank Suncrest Hospice staff, Natalie Dyer, Lialian Loro, Pastor CJ Wood and Cindy Lassiter.

Memorial Services will be held Sunday, January 28th at 2pm with a small reception to follow.

All will be held at Harrell Funeral Home, 4435 Frontier Trail, Austin, TX 78745

This will conclude the services.
