Willie Earl Wright Sr

July 27, 1952 - April 13, 2023

A joyful spirit, loved by all who crossed his path, Mr. Willie Earl Wright Sr. was born July
27, 1952, and departed this life on April 13, 2023. Raised by his parents, Deacon Melvin
Wright Sr. and Mrs. Ruthie Lee Wright, Willie accepted Christ at an early age and
attended church with his family participating in many activities. As a member of the
Willie Chapel Primitive Baptist Church in Austin, Texas, Willie sang and faithfully served
in the choir where he sang his favorite song “Two Wings”. Willie later joined the Ulit
Avenue/Greater Ulit Missionary Baptist Church under the pastorage of his brother,
Reverend Melvin Wright Jr.
Willie attended Austin Public Schools and graduated from Albert Sidney Johnston High
School. He was employed with the City of Austin where he worked until his retirement.
He was skilled at playing pool and enjoyed traveling central Texas in various pool
tournaments. Willie enjoyed life to the fullest as he fellowshipped with his friends and
family at gatherings playing his favorite game of dominos. His affectionate smile and gift
of conversation was contagious. Willie loved his many cars over the years that gave him
great pleasure. He also had a great love of working in his yard.
Willie is preceded in death by his grandparents, Mrs. Ora Lee Hemphill Walker and Mr.
Willie Walker, Mr. Arthur Wright, and Mrs. Bettie Wright. His parents, Deacon Melvin
Wright Sr., and Mrs. Ruthie L. Wright.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving children: Tim Wright, Willie Wright Jr., David
“Ace” Irving, John Wright, A’Shia Davidson, Amour Davidson.
His Grandchildren: MyTrae Brown, Camari Glenn, Mason Davidson, Donavon Taylor.
He also leaves his siblings: Mr. Jerry L. Wright (Carolyn), Reverend Melvin Wright Jr.
(Cynthia), Mrs. Barbara Harris, Mr. Ralph Wright, Deacon Benjamin Wright (Jackie).
Many special friends, and a host of extended family, and friends.
