Mary H. Davenport, a beacon of warmth and love, passed away peacefully of natural causes on August 19, 2024, in her hometown of Austin, TX. Born on December 14, 1948, Mary's life was a testament to the enduring power of faith, family, and friendship.

Mary's early years in Austin laid a strong foundation for a life marked by devotion and service. She embraced her community with open arms and a generous heart. Her smile was a familiar and comforting presence to those who knew her, and her laughter was a melody that echoed through the lives of many.

A dedicated employee, Mary spent her entire career with The State of Texas, where she was known for her commitment to making a difference in the lives of her fellow Texans. Colleagues became friends, and friends became family, as Mary's influence extended far beyond the walls of her workplace.

Beyond her professional achievements, Mary's life was rich with personal passions. She was a devout churchgoer, finding solace and strength in her faith. Her love for the Bible was profound, and she spent countless hours studying its teachings and sharing her insights with others. Her faith was her compass, guiding her through life's challenges and joys.

Mary's playful spirit shone brightly when she was playing games with her friends. She truly enjoyed the last years of her life meeting and getting know everyone at The Continental. Playing games with the other members of the community was one of her favorite pastimes. Her friends will fondly remember her for her quick wit and loving nature.

Family was the cornerstone of Mary's life. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend. Her husband, Charles Davenport, predeceased her, as did her mother, Agnes Herrera. Mary's legacy of love and strength lives on through her daughter, Delaney Taylor-Koch, her son-in-law, Steve Koch, her son, Charles Davenport Jr., her granddaughters, Chase Taylor Northup and Carolyn Taylor, her granddaughter, Nia Davenport, and her grandson-in-law, Andy Northup. Each of them carries a piece of Mary's spirit, her teachings, and her unconditional love.

Mary's presence was a gift to all who knew her. Her guidance and support were unwavering, her advice always wise and kind-hearted. She had an innate ability to see the best in people and to encourage them to rise to their potential. Her influence will be felt for generations to come, as her family and friends continue to live by the values she embodied.
