Effie Taylor Franklin Obituary

Ms. Effie Franklin, 67 departed this world on August 9, 2016, with her family by her side at St. David's Hospital in Austin, Texas. Effie was born July 31, 1949, in Austin to the late Leonard and Rosa Hill. Leonard and Rosa instilled in Effie a love for the Lord, which led to her committing her life to Christ at an early age at Corinth Missionary Baptist Church where she served until she was called home. She was educated in the Austin Independent School District where she graduated from Albert Sydney Johnston High School in 1968. Upon completing high school she attended Texas Southern University in Houston, where she earned both a Bachelors and Masters Degree from the university. Effie worked in AISD at Pearce Middle School. She later worked for both the Salvation Army and H.O.B.O. (Helping Our Brother Out) as a social worker, and later transitioned to Texas Education Agency (T.E.A.) where she served as the Director of Continuing Adult Education and eventually retired from. Effie enjoyed her family especially her grandson, nieces, and grand-nieces. She enjoyed reading, fashion, shopping, and traveling. Most importantly she had a heart for service and helping others. Effie was preceded in death by her father Leonard Hill, mother Rosa Hill, and brother Adlia Hill. She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter Lattisha D. (Melvin) Pinkard, son Jamil D. Taylor, sister Betty Lott, brother Troy Hill, sister Joycelyn (Jonathan)Catron, brother Leonard Carl Hill, sister Kendell (Ernesto) Wallace, brother Homer Hill, and beloved grandson Micah J. Pinkard.
