Jesse "Bullets" Galvez, a man whose laughter was as infectious as his nickname was intriguing, left this world for the grand workshop in the sky on September 29, 2024. Born on October 22, 1958, in the heart of Austin, Texas, Jesse crafted a life as sturdy and as full of character as the woodwork he so loved. A true Austinite through and through, he departed in the same city that had the good fortune of witnessing his first breath.
Bullets wasn't your ordinary carpenter; he was a magician with a hammer and a chisel, turning ordinary pieces of wood into extraordinary works of art. His vocational degree in high school wasn't just a piece of paper; it was a ticket to over 25 years of shaping, building, and creating. Jesse's hands were always busy, but his heart, even more so. He poured love into every joint and groove, his craftsmanship a testament to his dedication and passion.
But let's not saw away from the rest of his story. Jesse was not just a master of the miter joint; he was also the life of the party. His sense of humor could nail the punchline every time, leaving folks in stitches while he was just sanding down a board. A devoted Dallas Cowboys and Texas Longhorn fan, Bullets could often be found cheering on his teams, offering free and often unsolicited coaching advice from his living room.
He is preceded by his parents Eliazar Galvez and Angela Elizondo Galvez, his niece and god child Sarah Nicole Galvez Ramos and brothers in law John Ramos Sr., Robert Harkrider and his grandparents Emiliano and Vicenta Elizondo and Joe and Mary Martinez Galvez
He is survived by his siblings Betty Jean Galvez-Ramos, Brian Galvez Jr., Mary Angela Galvez-Moreno (David Moreno) and Sylvia Galvez-Harkrider, as well as nephews John Ramos Jr., John Ramos III, and Jesse Ramos who was named in honor of Jesse Galvez.
He survived by countless other nephews, nieces David Moreno jr. ; David Moreno III, Caleb Moreno and Manuel Renteria jr. Josh Harkrider, Robert Harkrider
niece Chole Harkrider, Deborah Moreno,
Natalie Moreno,Maddox and Melody Renteria, Kathy Renteria
God children Rose Marie Sears, Monica Perez, Yvonne Lucio, Adrian Lucio, Nikki Atlamirano, Mark Barrientez & Carmen Chisolm.
Jesse's life was a tapestry woven with threads of love, kindness, and a good dose of humor. He was the kind of man who could light up a room with a smile and a well-timed joke, and who believed that the best way to fix a bad day was with a bit of laughter (and maybe a few swings of a hammer). Friends and family remember him as a man who could make you forget your troubles with a hearty laugh and a pat on the back.
As we say goodbye to Jesse, we won't dwell on the cause of his departure. After all, he'd probably quip that it's not the 'how' but the 'what' you leave behind that counts. And leave behind he did—a legacy of joy, a collection of memories as finely crafted as his woodwork, and a world a little brighter for his presence.
So here's to Jesse "Bullets" Galvez—a man who never met a piece of wood or a moment of life he couldn't shape into something wonderful. His spirit will continue to echo through the halls of his home, the grains of his creations, and the laughter he inspired. Rest easy, Bullets; your memory will forever be a blueprint of love and humor for all who had the pleasure of knowing you.
