Woodrow Cecil Hunter, Jr. was born in Bastrop, Texas on June 2, 1948.  He was the 2nd of 8 children born to Woodrow Hunter and Vera Williams. He was an intelligent young man with big dreams.  

As a teenager, he attended Albert Sidney Johnston High School in Austin, Texas. Woodrow was a photographer for the school yearbook club. It was from this early age, that he found a love of photography. It was a passion he would take with him throughout his adult life.  

Many who knew Woodrow, will tell you, he was a good-looking man, popular, and quite the charmer.  While in high school, he met his first wife, Carolyn Arocha.   They had two children, James Marcus Hunter, and Rebecca Marie Hunter.  

He was known for being an entertainer who loved house parties and laughing with family and friends.  He had a unique sense of humor and a contagious laugh.  He was loved for a few ironies in his life. For example, he had a love of stereo equipment, but never liked loud music.  He also had fast cars but did not like to drive fast. Life was always interesting around Woodrow.  He walked throughout life to the beat of his own drum.  

Woodrow was a hard worker.  As a teenager, he worked in the hospitality industry.  After Highschool, he went to an aviation school where he learned to navigate and direct planes. He moved to San Francisco, California in 1968, where he was able to pursue his favorite hobbies: photography and archery.  He also earned his college degree in Psychology.  He continued his education and eventually earned a master’s degree while working for the City and County of San Francisco.  While he was there, he met and married his second wife, Bonnie. Eventually, Woodrow decided to return to Texas and in 1993, came home and married his third wife Genice.  He eventually moved to San Antonio, Texas where he remained until his death on May 21, 2021.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Woodrow and Vera Hunter, his sister Lareda Belk Davis, and his brothers Dexter and Charles Hunter.  He is survived by his sister Verna Arceneaux, brothers Micheal Hunter, Carlos Hunter, and Tommy Hunter; son James Marcus Hunter; Daughter Rebecca Marie Hunter-Jefferson; grand children Marcus, Jasmine, Mary, and Melody along with several nieces and nephews. 

The family would like to thank, Hospice, Woodrow’s brother Micheal and all his siblings for taking care of their father during his final days.  

A viewing in his honor will be held on Tuesday, June 22, 2021 at King Tears Funeral Home beginning at 10:00 am.  Interment will follow at Evergreen cemetery where he will be in his final resting place with his dad, Woodrow, Sr.
