ames Landon Smith Nov. 17, 1978 - Oct. 4, 2009 James Landon Smith of Austin, passed away in Temple on Sunday, Oct. 4, 2009 after suffering a heart attack at the too-young age of 30. He was born in Austin on Nov. 17, 1978, the son of James Larry Smith and Sandra Sue Smith of Austin. He left this life way too soon, but will be remembered with deep love by his family and his many, many friends. The world was Landon's stage and his performance as a loving son and devoted father was incomparable. His ever-present smile could light any room and warm any heart as he made each person feel so special to him. His interests were wide ranging from the antiquities to the events of today. He was equally at home hiking and camping in nature, concocting gourmet treats for family and friends, or accepting the challenge of a video game with his daughter Megan. He was known as a mixologist supreme, a wizard at sleight of hand and card tricks and dreamed of conveying the creations in his mind in a published novel. Landon attended Kealing Liberal Arts Magnet School and graduated from Johnston High School Liberal Arts Academy in Austin. Throughout his four years at Johnston, he was active in drama productions, competing in UIL One-Act Play, earning numerous awards, including Best Actor. He attended Austin Community College, Southwest Texas State University and Texas Tech University, studying in many diverse fields. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Frances and James Leo Smith and Bess and Robert Max Leetch, and his uncle Robert Max Leetch, Jr. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his daughter, Megan Smith; his sister, Jessica Smith; and his loving companion, Emily Lambie. Also loving nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. The family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 6, 2009 at Cook- Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home, 14501 N. IH-35, Pflugerville, Texas 78660. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 7, 2009 in the funeral home chapel. The family requests that those who wish to make memorial donations in Landon's name to do so to the American Heart Association or the charity of choice.
