Our sweet mom, Doris Eileen Lowry Kraft, grew her wings and passed away peacefully on February 17th, 2025, surrounded by family in Blanco, TX. She was 83.

Born on August 9th, 1941, in Baytown, TX, to Eldon "Doc" Lowry and Nona Lowry, Doris was a delightful, faith-filled, and loving woman. She was a devoted wife to Charles Kraft for 54 years until his passing in 2017.

Doris is preceded in death by her parents, Doc and Nona Lowry; her brother, Glen Lowry; her husband, Charles Kraft; her nephew, Peter Lowry; and numerous cousins, aunts, and uncles. She is survived by her daughter, Jamie Kraft; her son, Lowry Kraft; her adopted son, Leonard Davila; her nephew, Colin Lowry; and a precious few cousins.

Doris attended Lee College before earning a B.A. in English from Sam Houston. She later obtained her Master’s in Geography from SWT. Passionate about education, she taught school for 26 years, beginning her career at Johnston High School, then moving to Bedichek Middle School, and finishing at Grisham Middle School. She lovingly referred to her students as her "cherubs"—they truly were her children, and she cherished them dearly.

She was also the driving force behind starting the Texas NF Foundation, which touched countless lives by fundraising for NF research. In her later years, she found joy in working with TSICP, supporting RNs in the health field.

Doris had a huge heart, a delightful sense of humor, a listening ear, and the most beautiful smile. When she was around, you truly felt heard and loved. She simply made the world a better place.

We invite you to celebrate her life at Fitzhugh Baptist Church on Saturday, February 22nd. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, with services at 2:00 PM, followed by a time of fellowship.
