DUVALL, A. Scott "Scotty"
Allison Scott "Scotty" Duvall was born February 13, 1931, in Pampa, Texas and died Monday May 23rd, 2016 at the age of 85.
Scotty grew up in the Austin and Leander, Texas area and graduated from Leander High School in 1949. After high school, he joined the U.S. Navy, proudly serving his country from 1952-1955 in the Korean War aboard the USS Princeton & USS Yorktown. While in the service, he met Barbara in Oakland, California and they were married in 1953. After being honorably discharged from the Navy in 1955, they moved to Austin, at which time he went to work as a highway patrolman for the Texas Highway Department where he worked until 1959. In 1962, Scotty graduated from the University of Texas in Austin with a degree in Physical Education. After graduation he went to work for the Austin Independent School District working as a teacher and coach at several schools in the district. He was a proud member of the Texas Exes and an avid Longhorn fan. His retirement days were spent on the golf course at Balcones Country Club where he was "shooting his age" in his 70's, including a verified hole-in-one, topped off with a MGA Championship win in 2008.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Euell and Lula Duvall of Austin and joined the next day by his sister-in-law, Rose Duvall of Lockhart, who passed away the morning of May 24, 2016. Scotty is survived by Barbara; his son and daughter-in-law, David and Teresa Duvall; grandchildren Christine (Duvall) Gola, her husband David, and Courtney Duvall; great grandchildren, Dane and Madelyn Gola; brother, Don Duvall; nephews Ray and Gilbert Duvall and their families; along with all his golf buddies at Balcones Country Club.
Memorial Service will be held Saturday, June 11, 2016, 2:00 PM at Balcones Country Club, 8600 Balcones Country Club Drive, Austin, Texas 78750.
