Born in Pearsall, Texas on Mar. 20, 1917
Departed on Nov. 6, 2006 and resided in Austin, TX.
Graveside Service: Friday, Nov. 10, 2006
Barbara I. Musselman passed away in the early hours, November 6, 2006 after 89 years of giving more than she took from this world. Born to William and Ivy Wells in Pearsall, Texas, she is survived by her daughter Ann and husband Jim Downing, son Karl Musselman, granddaughter Jennifer Franco and husband Luis and their children Ashley and Andrew, grandson James Downing and wife Amber and their son Tristan, niece Patricia Beilke and nephew Merwin Hemphill and his family.
During the depression years she left Texas to learn nursing at the Benevolent Christian Science Society in Boston where she later met her husband Glenn H. Musselman. After Glenn's death during the polio epidemics she returned to San Antonio with her children where she headed the preschool at Christ Episcopal Church. In 1960 she moved to Austin and continued pursuing a degree in education at UT. As registrar at Johnston High she guided countless young people toward college or professions and over the years took delight in seeing "her students" and learning about their accomplishments.
Barbara's family extends our gratitude to the staff and management of Regency Village Care Center for their attention and sensitivity while Barbara was in their care.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to the St. David's Episcopal Church Endowment Fund or Ballet Austin Foundation are welcome.
Graveside services are scheduled at 10:30 AM, Friday, November 10 at Austin Memorial Park.
