Mozelle Edwards (Librarian)

Mozelle Dunlap Edwards was born on July 14, 1928 in Austin, Texas. Preceded in death by Maude Watkins-Dunlap (mother), John Dunlap (father), Johnnie Mae Hutchinson (sister), Julius D. Dunlap (brother), and Willie Davis (brother). She graduated from L.C. Anderson High School in Austin, Texas. She furthered her education at Huston-Tillotson College (University).

On May 19, 1953 she married Wilbert Edwards. They were married for 50 years before Wilbert made his transition to his heavenly home. To this union one child was born, Wilbert Ray Edwards.

She professed a hope in Christ in life at a fairly young age and joined the Mt. Zion Baptist Church where she served faithfully on the Usher Board for over 50 years. Mozelle served also in Mission 1 and attended Sunday School Class #4. Mozelle was a classy lady and dresser, she looked forward to the Mission's Holiday Tea where she was always a featured model, walking the runway in her elegant suits and hats.

She accomplished many things in life: she was gainfully employed by Austin Independent School District as a Librarian at Sidney Johnson High School where she retired. Upon retirement, she enjoyed fishing and gardening with her husband Wilbert. Mozelle also enjoyed taking pottery classes and quilting at Rosewood Zaragosa.

Mozelle leaves to cherish her memories, her son, Wilbert Ray Edwards of Austin, Texas, her niece, Debbie Dunlap Shepard (Ray) of Pflugerville, Texas and nephews Ralph (Rose) Dunlap of Laguna Niguel, California, Julius Rahn Dunlap of Austin, Texas, sister-in-laws, Irene Griffin of Houston, Texas, Jerry Lynn Patridge of Austin, Texas and brother-in-law Wilford Leonard of Austin, Texas; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
